The St. Christian's Church in Hamburg’s Ottensen district is a Baroque building dating from 1738. The grave of the poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock has been located in the churchyard since 1803, which is why the street running south of it, Palmaille-Elbchaussee, was renamed Klopstockstraße in 1846 for a stretch of about 270 meters, and the name Klopstockkirche has since become common for the church as well.
The church has a cemetery that was likely used for burials as early as 1537; the last burial took place in 1929. The graves are scattered across the grounds, some hidden in bushes, and the epitaphs are often no longer legible.
