The largest park cemetery in the world

Ohlsdorf Cemetery was inaugurated on July 1, 1877, and, at 389 hectares, is the largest park cemetery in the world, though it ranks only fourth in terms of total area. It is the largest cemetery in Europe, although Vienna’s Central Cemetery, with an area of 250 hectares and 330,000 graves, has about 100,000 more graves.The largest cemetery in the world is Wadi as-Salam in Najaf (Iraq), covering 917 hectares. It is followed by Behescht-e Zahra in Tehran (Iran) with 424 hectares. Third place goes to Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island (New York, USA) with 423 hectares.The cemetery is so large and diverse that there is always something new to see.
